I study the following:

  • Weather prediction processes and warning technologies

  • Disaster concepts, like vulnerability, that impact how researchers interact with communities affected by weather and climate extremes

  • Historical contexts and policy implications for the emergence of new technologies, initiatives, and practices in expert communities

  • Expert and public challenges in fast and slow disasters (e.g. tornadoes and drought, respectively)

  • Emergent sources of harm, capacity, and ethics
