R.E.D.

RED is an acronym: Risk and Equity in Disasters. It speaks to our mission to focus on conceptualizations of risk and how these may involve or evoke differential impacts on individuals and communities. We focus on decision spaces, communities, warning infrastructures and multiple contexts. We study how the resources, personal histories, social infrastructures, and ethical frameworks constrain the ability of people to act in the world.

Disaster

Disasters can be fast or slow, acute or chronic, visible or difficult to identify. They emerge from interactions between hazards, data, society, and technology. Our lab focuses on the social elements of disaster, like cultural, political, historical, and ethical dimensions of weather and climate hazards. Our work is often co-produced and policy relevant.

Lab

Our lab follows feminist practices that level the hierarchical politics of most labs. Check out our lab space here: www.redlaboratory.com
