Disasters can be fast or slow, acute or chronic, visible or difficult to identify. Our lab focuses on the social elements of disaster, like cultural, political, historical, and ethical dimensions of weather and climate hazards. Our work is often co-produced and policy relevant.
RISK is an acronym: Research in Integrative Sciences and Knowledges. It speaks to our mission to work across disciplines, types of knowledge, and practitioner and scholarly groups. As a concept, risk acknowledges the challenges of research, collaboration, integration and knowledge production.
A lab is a type of space designed to allow a group of individuals to study a problem by breaking it down into its constituent parts, understand the characteristics of a phenomena, and take that knowledge back into the world.
